Funding: The EbA is funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF). The GCF is the financing mechanism of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) established to combat climate change and achieve low emission and climate resilient development pathways in developing countries and reduced global temperature rise to less than 2 degrees Celsius (2oC).

EBA Project Objectives

The objective of the project is to build the climate-resilience of rural Gambian communities and facilitate the development of a sustainable natural resource-based (green) economy by implementing large-scale EbAs within and adjacent to agricultural lands, community-managed forest reserves and wildlife conservation areas.

The EbA project is divided into three main components expressed as output areas on which the success/achievement largely depends and used as performance measures.

EBA Background

Environmental resources (e.g. forests, wildlife and fisheries) are essential sources of livelihoods for people in both developing and industrialised countries in providing energy and serving as sinks for gases emitted especially from oil and gas extraction. The continuous supply of environmental services and goods is threatened by increasing pressures on the fragile natural resources.
